Have a child that suffers from a food allergy or know someone in your neighborhood who has a child who does? You have the chance to make them feel included this Halloween thanks the Teal Pumpkin Project!
The Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) group set up this project in hopes of helping parents and their allergen-sensitive children enjoy this holiday as much as everyone else! On FARE’s website it states that one in every 13 children in the United States suffers from a food allergy. That’s A LOT of kids missing out on the joy and excitement of trick-or-treating with friends in the neighborhood! FARE wanted EVERY child to have that opportunity, even if they couldn’t have candy! How did they do this?
With the help from sponsors, they gathered up non-food treats and goodies for homes to hand out to those kids who come to their house and have a food allergy! They let the families know by painting a pumpkin teal and placing it on their porch, that way those kids can go to that house knowing there is something special waiting for them there!
Sure, there are loads of treats out there that are made without the top eight allergens, but children can be allergic to ANYTHING. These toys ensure that these children won’t even have to worry about their food allergies!
The goal for FARE was to have one house with a teal pumpkin on every block in the United States! We want the same! Our mission with Healthy Snack Solutions is to make access to healthy, allergen-sensitive snacks easy and affordable! We understand how difficult it is to find snacks that fit your child’s needs, but the Teal Pumpkin Project makes it easy and fun for everyone! That’s something Healthy Snack Solutions wants to do too! Take part in this great cause this Halloween season!
